Israeli President on State Visit to Russia, Inaugurates Jewish Museum

Today, Israeli President Shimon Peres inaugurated the Jewish Museum and Tolerance Center in Moscow alongside Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov as part of his state visit to the Russian Federation. It is one of the biggest Jewish museums in the world and has been partially financed by President Vladimir Putin and billionaire Viktor Vekselberg. At the ceremony, Peres stated “This is a very moving moment -- for my people, for my country and for me.”

Peres later met with President Putin to discuss bilateral relations between their countries.

During his visit, Peres also plans to attend a community meeting where he will meet with hundreds of Russian Jewish leaders, rabbis and youth.
