
A resident of the Penza region of Russia was given a one year suspended sentence after being found guilty of a hate crime, according to a May 15, 2008 report by the Sova Information-Analytical Center. Aleksandr Atyakshev, age 36, attacked an Armenian man in his home village last November. A group of youths who participated in the attack avoided criminal charges all together because they are under-aged.
