Court Hands Down Verdict in Likely Racist Murder

A court in Yaroslavl, Russia sentenced a man to 16 years in prison for
murdering a citizen of Tajikistan, according to a June 25, 2009 report
by the Sova Information-Analytical Center. Dmitry Leontev was found
guilty on June 11 of killing Nafasho Bandishoev in January of this
year. While details about the case are sketchy, the defendant has a
previous sentence on his record after being found guilty of assaulting
an African man, pointing to a likely racist motive to his latest
crime. However, he was found guilty only of "murder motivated by
hooliganism."
